In the middle of doing a Virtual Press Run for our Punky Brewster continuation, I still have a life. I needed a cute outfit quickly where I didn’t have to change my clothes before my interviews today. Then, I remembered this really cute sweatsuit sent to me from Suddenly Forty! It was perfect!! I put it on, and it was comfortable and soft and appropriate for my whole entire day!
I hate rushing, so I always keep a couple of go to outfits right in front of my closet. Because I am one of those people, if I have to search for it, I don’t wear it. I like to grab and go!
My day was looking like this:
10:50am Rhythm’s Dentist Appointment
11:30am Post Office (gotta mail Cucumbers are Delicious)
11:45am Gas Station
12:00pm Make Lunch
2:00pm Phone interview
3:00pm Cook Dinner
4pm-8pm Record Cherie’s World Podcast
8:30pm Rhythm’s Bedtime
45 is a weird age. I still look and feel young but let’s be real, some things are just no longer age appropriate. But I am not tryna look like a grandma either. Thank you Suddenly Forty for keeping it cute! You will get to check it out on the podcast!
38 years ago, I met this little vivacious girl in the hallway! We became fast friends drawing pictures together sitting in the same chair. Little did I know we would break ground going down in pop culture history as iconic TV best friends. Recently, I read somewhere they were comparing us to Laverne and Shirley, Lucy and Ethel!! It brought tears to my eyes! What an amazing honor (Like how lucky are we.). Some jobs are just that for actors, JOBS. Others leave a lifelong impression on the way you live your everyday life.
Soleil and I both grew up believing we could accomplish anything we put our minds to. At the time when we shot the very first pilot, I don’t believe either of us knew how much we would forever carry our characters and the show with us.
The Universe and Peacock gave us the opportunity to shoot the pilot again many years later as adults and I can’t explain this time around how we absorbed how important that moment was.
I have a confession to all of you and Soleil, LOL. Soleil turned around moments before they said action and said, “Hey Cherie, are you nervous?”
“No this is gonna be great” I whispered to her with excitement.
I gave her the biggest nervous giggle ever! I was excited but nervous too, but I couldn’t act nervous because I didn’t want to transfer that energy. I know she knows I was full of shit LOL, but I stayed right next to her sometimes on the other side of the wall cheering her on as she nailed EVERY SCENE!!
I LAUGHED I CRIED!!!
My reactions to the show were genuine and it was great! I can’t wait for you all to see the pilot and the show. It was so special, and I pray each of you enjoy it! The writers are working so hard to make sure every episode is within that PUNKY spirit. Thank you all for continuing to grow with us and being so receptive to having us back!
You truly are our friends forever! I LOVE YOU! WE LOVE YOU!! THE PUNKY CAST AND CREW ARE TRULY FAMILY AND YOU ARE AN EXTENSION OF THAT! THANK YOU!!!
Never in a million years did I imagine me and this hottie would be working together again! What a complete gift from God! Thank you, Universe, and thank you All Of OUR PUNKY FRIENDS who have grown up with us! What an amazing opportunity you have given us…we are overwhelmed with emotions. I have cried 2 million happy tears. I am praying for at least 5 seasons and I know we can do it with your help. Punky became a culture for many, taught empathy and life lessons to all of us.
Soleil and I are both parents,
so we are on a journey to give the same to our children, not in a corny way!
Times have changed. I am so excited to embody the character of “Cherie!” I have
faith you will love us as women. We are us; we are strong and powerful and we
will make life happen in our own bubble.
To be able to return
to the BEST experience in my life is a true gift! I am treasuring every moment
on the set. Soleil is the most pure, kind hearted person I’ve ever met in my
life so to be able to hold my homie’s hand again at work is a true gift.
My have times changed.
In the 80s, the network used to be 3-5 middle aged white men in suits who
didn’t smile. UCP came down to watch our table reading and it was the most
amazing thing I’ve ever seen. Imagine around 40 people and 90 percent are women
ages 20-50 and the room was All Diverse! It was the most amazingly beautiful
“Girl Power” thing I’ve ever seen! Different walks of life, different ethnic
backgrounds ALL POWERFUL women champion to get this Punky Pilot done! This is
real PUNKY POWER!
